SSI Try Scuba

Try diving in our 3 hour Try Dive scuba program to see if diving is for you.
The Try Scuba costs $169 and includes a theory session, all dive equipment, shallow water skill practice and 1 shore dive with an instructor. This is your chance to experiance the warm water and shallow reefs of Flying Fish Cove or Ethel Beach
It is not a certification by itself, but if you like it we can go straight into an entry level course, and the first try dive that you do will credit towards a portion of the course.
(Minimum age 14 years/ Under 15 requires a doctors medical)

SSI Scuba Diver

The Scuba Diver course is about 2-3 days of theory, skill practice and diving (2 open water dives).
The theory is available online and then gone revised with the instructor at the dive centre to make sure everything is properly understood.
Skill training takes about ½ day to full day, depending on how comfortable the diver is with all the skills (we always encourage more practice for those not 100% sure) and some time swimming around in shallow water to get really comfortable.
Then the two open water dives can be done on the last day, each about 40 - 60 minutes (depending on how quickly the diver breaths the air in the tank) and a break in-between dives to debrief and discuss technique.
The SSI Scuba Diver course includes theory materials (rental) & certification, class theory, 3 confined ware sessions, 2 Open Water dives from shore, dive equipment and SSI logbook.
With the Scuba Diver course you will be certified to dive to 12 meters with an instructor or other dive professional and you can at any point upgrade to the full open water level by completing the last bit of the open water course. Essentially the scuba diver course is the first half of the open water course, and is great if your time is limited.
Western Australia laws dictates a minimum age 12 years old.
Our company policy additionally requires all under 15 years of age students complete a doctors medical, and vetting by our instructors.

SSI Open Water

The Open Water course is about 4-5 days of theory, skill practice and diving (4 open water dives).
The theory is also available online and gone revised with the instructor at the dive centre.
Skill training takes about a full day, might be longer again depending on comfort level.
Then the four open water dives can be done on the last days, or integrated between skill sets learned. We are flexible at how we can structure each course and look to how the student learns best to make them gain the most from it. We always debrief skill and dive sessions so they know how to improve and things that they are doing well.
The SSI Open Water course includes theory materials (rental) & certification, class theory, 6 confined water sessions, 4 Open Water dives from shore, dive equipment and SSI logbook.
The open water course is the full beginner program for diving and allows divers to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters with another certified diver (this diver does not have to be an instructor or other qualified dive professional).
